To find out more about this unique reading challenge, please visit The Classics Club Blog for the rules and link-up post.
After joining the previous two spins and enjoying it, I’ve decided to join once again! I now have a longer list than just 20 classic books that I’ve long wanted to read, but that just means more for later. In my case, these are all books I already own, either in print, or already have ready and waiting to be read on my Kindle. So, without any further ado…
Here’s my list:
- The Lifted Veil by George Eliot
- Mr. Pim Passes By: A Play in Three Acts by A.A. Milne
- Daisy Miller: A Study by Henry James
- Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
- Offshore by Penelope Fitzgerald
- Which Way? by Theodora Benson
- The Beautiful and the Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Casino Royale by Ian Fleming
- The Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers
- Diaries of Adam and Eve by Mark Twain
- The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber & Other Stories by Ernest Hemingway
- The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
- The Pursuit of Love by Nancy Mitford
- The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
- A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway
- The Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas fils
- The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie
- The Man of Property – The Forsythe Saga Vol. 1 by John Galsworthy
- Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Quite an eclectic list, right? And just so you know, some of these have been on my shelves for several decades, and some of them are very old editions, which are bound in real leather!
What’s Next?
On Sunday, December 11, they will announce a number from 1 through 20. When they announce it, I will go to my Spin list, find that number, read (and hopefully, review) the book listed for that number by the 29th of January, 2023.
Your “winning” book is one I’ve not heard of – will be interesting to learn more about it.
You had a lucky escape with number 1 – I ended up with Lifted Veil in the last spin. So glad it was not my first experience of George Eliot

Really? Goodness… but it is short, right? Hm… even so… maybe I’ll lob it off my next spin list just in case.

Hmm, I’ve never heard of your winner, either book or author so the best I can do is hope it turns out to be great!

Hello, I will not join the classic spin list; it seems too challenging for me; I can’t handle stress at all. I /we did attend this book sale and I have acquired some new reads and never mind the e-books that I acquired last summer; so I have much reading to do and yet, I am always plagued with folks acting things out around me from what I may or is reading or I imagine all things untrue. Anyhow, good luck with your spin list and I hope you get a good one to read. I do what I can with my little blog which makes me happy to have some contact with the world at large. I hope to share some of those books from this library book sale as posts for what I’ve read. Otherwise, nothing good ever happens to me; only bad things I am afraid to say. Thank you for reading and happy reading!

Oh… sorry about that. But you enjoy your blog and do it as best fits your life. Wishing you only good things!

Casino Royale is the first Bond book. Fleming hits his stride in a book or two. Be patient with this one–it is well worth it though.

Good to know. We’ll see if it is picked this time. I have five others on my shelf. They belonged to my husband who read them as a boy!
