Sorry I’m a little bit late with this, but I scheduled a bunch of posts before I got this information (and before I went on vacation), so it took a bit to fit this in!

Cranford by Elizabeth Cleghorn Gaskell.

So… Am I happy about this?
Yes, I’ve been wanting to read this after I read a review of it a couple years ago. I actually downloaded my edition from from Project Gutenberg, so if my review piques your interest, but not enough to spend money, you can get an ecopy for free from them!
Now all I have to do is read and review this book by the 30th of October, 2022. From what I can see, this isn’t a very long book (probably less than 200 pages), so even though I have a Kindle full of ARCs to read, I know I can get this one in, since it will probably be a quick read.

I remember enjoying watching the TV adaptation 🙂 I don’t think I’ll read the book again though.

This was my first experience of Gaskell ad I found it a bit too light for my tastes. I much preferred her more gritty social realism fiction. But I might go back one day and try Cranford again – I could have misjudged it

Seems like a great spin result! I loved North & South when I read it a few years ago, and I’ve been wanting get to Cranford too. (I suppose I should add it to my next spin list). Hope you enjoy — can’t wait to hear what you think!

I got the eBook of Cranford free download from the Gutenberg Project, but I started looking for a print copy as well.

I loved Cranford. Some find it dull or trivial, but I think it’s a gem of sympathetic observation. I wonder what you’ll think!

Hope you enjoy it! I haven’t read it, but there was a lovely TV adaptation a few years ago which you may have seen. If not, it’s well worth looking out for.
