To find out more about this unique reading challenge, please visit The Classics Club Blog for the rules and link-up post.
After joining the previous two spins and enjoying it, I’ve decided to join once again! I now have a longer list than just 20 classic books that I’ve long wanted to read, but that just means more for later. In my case, these are all books I already own, either in print, or already have ready and waiting to be read on my Kindle. So, without any further ado…
Here’s my list:
- Mr. Pim Passes By: A Play in Three Acts by A.A. Milne
- Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell
- Daisy Miller: A Study by Henry James
- Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
- Offshore by Penelope Fitzgerald
- The Lifted Veil by George Eliot
- The Beautiful and the Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Casino Royale by Ian Fleming
- The Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers
- Diaries of Adam and Eve by Mark Twain
- The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber & Other Stories by Ernest Hemingway
- Mandala by Pearl S. Buck
- Round the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne
- The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
- Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- The Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas fils
- The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie
- The Man of Property – The Forsythe Saga Vol. 1 by John Galsworthy
- A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway
Quite an eclectic list, right? And just so you know, some of these have been on my shelves for several decades, and some of them are very old editions, which are bound in real leather!
What’s Next?
On Sunday, September 18, they will announce a number from 1 through 20. When they announce it, I will go to my Spin list, find that number, read (and hopefully, review) the book listed for that number by the 30th of October, 2022.
HI Davida!
I haven’t taken part in the Classics Spin in ages, but will try this time around again. I’ve read a few Elizabeth Gaskell when I was younger, but I can’t remember of Cranford was one of them. I will have to check!
Good luck and happy reading!

I love the classic club spin! We have a couple of authors in common between our lists (Pearl Buck and Mark Twain), as well as The Mysterious Affair at Styles. I’d be excited to read any!!

I love it when I see books and authors on my list appearing on other readers’ lists.

You have a ton of good choices! Do you have one that you really want to win?

Either the Christie, the Flemming, or one of the Hemingway books – I’m ashamed I’ve never read anything by him. I bought the Dumas just to put in the spin, so that’s up on my hopeful list as well.

The Mysterious Affair at Styles, what fun. And Cranford is a such a charming read. Verne is so enjoyable too. Hope you enjoy whichever gets picked!

Some really good stuff here. Moveable Feast I recall loving in college. That was in about ’82 so my opinion may have changed. Enjoy whatever you get. I need to hurry up and finish the book from the last spin.

You have some interesting looking books there, including a George Eliot I’m not familiar with. I am putting my list up on Saturday.
