This is a yearly reading challenge by Cathy @ 746 Books where bloggers commit to read (10, 15, or) 20 books over the summer, or just count the number of books they read during the summer.
I joined in again, but although last year I read a full 20, this time I committed to read at least 10 books (because I had that many ARCs for the summer months). However…
I actually finished reading 16 books!
Well, that deserves a wrap-up post, don’t you think?
I have to admit that I was hoping to surpass 10 books this year, but I wasn’t sure I’d get past 15, especially because I finished the first book on my original list just one day before June 1st! Now, if I include the short story I read by Kate Quinn, that makes 17, but I don’t think that’s fair (but I’m okay with including a novella).
And yet, as they say, she persisted!
So, without any further ado… here are the 16 books I read for this challenge, and links to all of my reviews.
- Standing in the Rainbow by Fannie Flagg
-
The Ghosts of Paris by Tara Moss
-
For Those Who are Lost by Julia Bryan Thomas
-
Water Weed by Alice Campbell
-
The Click of the Gate by Alice Campbell
-
Now in November by Josephine Johnson
- Demian by Hermann Hesse
-
The Marble Staircase by Elizabeth Fair
-
Clothes-Pegs by Susan Scarlett
-
Zorrie by Laird Hunt
-
Delphi by Clare Pollard
-
The Highland Hens by Judy Leigh
-
The Mayfair Bookshop by Eliza Knight
-
The Forty Elephants by Erin Bledsoe
-
Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid
-
Véronique’s Journey by Patti Flinn
Oh well done. I set myself a low goal this year too and though I read about the same number as you overall, I only counted the ones that were on my original list.
I tried an Elizabeth Fair last month but found it rather dull so abandoned it…..

Sorry to hear that but… as we know, not every book is for everyone!

Congrats on reading so many lovely books. I didn’t read a lot this summer remodeling plus a short attention span is not a good mix lol.

Ah life… why does it always get in the way of reading???

It is lovely that you read so many books; I tried to read far beyond what I can but am too slow a reader. Like when eating and the plate is too full or such. I am sorry, congrats!

Well, being retired helps. When I was still working if I read 30 books a year that was a whole lot!

I don’t work; I am not employed. I have always been slow at doing things; lazy soul because I don’t do worth. Thank you.

Ah, but you have a blog! You can’t be all that lazy if you have an active blog!

Congratulations, Davida! That’s impressive. I read 14 this summer for our library challenge! I enjoyed looking at all these book covers. That’s half the fun seeing them!

I probably won’t join because I belong to so many other things with enforced reading (that is, having to read specific books for it or read by specific times), so I prefer to leave the rest of my reading to my choice. I have read some of the books on your list, though. I reviewed Water Weed a while back, and I have read The Marble Staircase but not yet reviewed it. I also have Clothes-Pegs on my stack to read soon.
