Last year I noticed that Annabookbel did a “My Life in Books” tag for 2020, and I remembered that I did one like it in 2019 and enjoyed it, but that was called “Life According to Literature” and it had slightly different prompts. In 2019, I found it on Brona’s Books, ANZ LitLovers LitBlog, and Veronica @ The Burgeoning Book Shelf. Also, I understand that Veronica originally found it on Theresa Smith Writes and Claire’s Reads and Reviews!
Well, wherever this came from, I did one for the 2020 books I read and reviewed, using 2019’s questions PLUS Annabel’s (even though I recall it was harder than I thought it would be). Now, since 2021 is almost over, I figured why not do another one for the books I read this past year?
THE RULES: Using only books you have read during the last year (2021), answer these questions. Try not to repeat a book title. These answers don’t have to be true, but they just need to make (some kind of) sense! You’ll find links to my reviews in my answers!
- Describe yourself: A Betting Woman (Jenni L. Walsh)
- How do you feel: Like Antiquities (Cynthia Ozick)
- Describe Where you currently live: in The Forgotten Room (Willig, Williams, White)
- If you could go anywhere, where would you go: Malibu Rising (Taylor Jenkins Reid)
- Your favourite form of transportation: The Last Train Home (Davina Blake)
- Your best friend is: A Bright Young Thing (Brianne Moore)
- You and your friends are: a Band of Sisters (Lauren Willig)
- What’s the weather like: Apricot Sky (Ruby Ferguson)
- You Fear: The Invisible Host (Gwen Bristow & Bruce Manning)
- What is the best advice you have to give: Somebody Loves You (Mona Arshi)
- Thought for the Day: Oh William! (Elizabeth Strout)
- How would I like to die: In the Crypt with a Candlestick (Daisy Waugh)
- My soul’s present condition: The Looking Glass (Carla Sarett)
Annabel’s prompts:
- My life in lockdown was: The Children’s Blizzard (Melanie Benjamin)
- In high school I was: The First Actress (CW Gortner)
- People might be surprised by: The Address (Fiona Davis)
- I will never be: a Blueeyedboy (Joanne Harris)
- My fantasy job is: The Personal Librarian (Marie Benedict & Victoria Christopher Murphy)
- At the end of a long day, I need to: have Conversations with my Body (Elana Sztokman)
- I hate being: The Lady in the Lake (Raymond Chandler)
- Wish I had: The Rose Code (Kate Quinn)

- Motto I live by: Yours Cheerfully (AJ Pearce)
- On my bucket list is: Swimming Back to Trout River (Linda Rui Feng)
- In my next life, I want to: Ever Rest (Roz Morris)
I love this. What a fun way to reflect on both books in the last year and life. I am definitely doing this. Some of your answers (how you feel and how you would like to die) made me chuckle. 🤣

Love your answers! Cloud Cuckoo Land… I’ve now prepared my version as well (only the last set of prompts) and will probably post on Sunday.

I really like this meme so I’m going to have a think and play along again this year. I have been struggling with a will I/won’t I post about my favourite books for the year but this might be nice to do instead. Thanks for the reminder!

I only realised just the other day that I hadn’t done this this year. I have a Boxing Day plan now! Merry Christmas.
