This week, Meeghan asked us to put up our Five Favorite Book Covers of 2021!
Well, there were a whole lot of beautiful covers this year, and a few I didn’t like much, but I still loved the book. This is quite an eclectic collection, and interestingly enough, all these books got high marks from me. So without any further ado, let’s judge some books by their covers….
#5 – The Rose Code by Kate Quinn.
I’m not a huge lover of yellow, but for some reason, this cover really captured my attention. You can read my review here.
#4 – Somebody Loves You by Mona Arshi.
Apparently, this is one of two covers where the only difference is the color scheme. I don’t know, there’s something very appealing about this one.
#3 – In the Crypt with a Candlestick by Daisy Waugh.
I just adored the Art Deco design for this book, which surprised me since it is a contemporary murder mystery novel!
#2 – Ever Rest by Roz Morris.
I would have read this even if I didn’t know Roz’s writing, just from this very evocative looking cover. I think it is perfect!
#1 – A Betting Woman by Jenni L. Walsh.
Normally, I don’t care for full-face pictures of women on the covers of novels, especially in historical fiction books. That’s because far too often than not, the woman looks far too modern. But this one… it looked just right, with that hat, the way the “A” makes a little mustache on her face, the lacy background… I mean, can you imagine a better cover? I can’t! That’s why this is my favorite cover of the year!
Oh these are so stunning!! Hope you had fun this week 💕

They are all beautiful, but I think I like In the Crypt with a Candlestick the best.

It is good, even if it evokes the wrong era!

Hm, I’ll have to go back and look over the covers to see which ones I really like.

Brilliant.
I thought this was your TTT but it looks like it*s another challenge. I already have trouble finding ten and not more, so this week, I ended up with a TTTT.
I absolutely love your covers, I think my favourite is “In the Crypt With a Candlestick” but Ever Rest ist also fantastic.
I have done a few challenges with covers I liked, like this one: Titles or Covers That Made Me Want to Read/Buy the Book.

Well, I don’t think that it really matters if you can’t make up ten (or five for this list), but you can always just do it with whatever you’ve got!

I doubt it makes any difference, I just feel bad sometimes when I come up with twenty or more for our top TEN list. LOL

Oh, love your choices, especially In the Crypt with a Candlestick is just gorgeous! I am not sure if I can make a top 5, I have seen some gorgeous covers in my reading this year. 🙂

You are most welcome, my dear. (Now, if Jane Davis had come out with a book this year, she might have gazumped your spot – or not. Her covers are truly kick-a**!)

I thought that The Rose Code was lovely too.
I have far too many book covers that I could mention here, but I really liked the cover of The Tsarina’s Daughter by Ellen Alpsten, you have inspired me to do a similar post, perhaps as an end of year one. Thank you.

Very nice covers! I admire your choice of best, but my own favorite is Arshi’s Somebody Loves You. It’s very Arts & Crafts!

I read some great books this year, but I can’t say I loved any of the covers. That said, I agree that your covers are very nice and I especially like Somebody Loves You. Thanks for posting!
