TCL’s 500th Post – Can’t Wait Wednesday #1!

Well, hello… This is my 500th post on my blog! To celebrate, I thought I’d try something new.

Can't Wait Wednesday

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This is my first time doing this meme, so… be gentle, okay?

My regular readers will recall that I’ve been a fan of Fredrik Backman since before his first novel, “A Man Called Ove” was published (I was one of the lucky early readers of this book). I knew then that he’d be an author to watch and I’ve been proven right ever since! In fact, I’ve read and reviewed all of his books on this blog:

For those of you out there who are also fans… yes, he has a new novel coming out on September 8, 2020! According to the blurb:

Anxious PeopleFrom the #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Man Called Ove and “writer of astonishing depth” (The Washington Times) comes a poignant comedy about a crime that never took place, a would-be bank robber who disappears into thin air, and eight extremely anxious strangers who find they have more in common than they ever imagined.

Viewing an apartment normally doesn’t turn into a life-or-death situation, but this particular open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes everyone in the apartment hostage. As the pressure mounts, the eight strangers begin slowly opening up to one another and reveal long-hidden truths.

You can read the rest of this blurb on Goodreads.

Well… this does sound different, doesn’t it? Surely this is going to be another hit, I can feel it in my bones! I already have my ARC waiting on my eReader, and I can hardly wait!

Pre-order this book (affiliate links) from: Amazon, Bookshop.org, iTunes, Indiebound, eBooks.com, Kobo eBook, Kobo audiobook, and The Book Depository.

What about you?

Do you want to read this book, too?

  1. I need to catch up on his books. I even have the audiobook of a Man Called Ove now so there is no excuse. I loved My Grandmother Told Me to Tell You She’s Sorry. He’s a wonderful writer.

    1. Hm… hard to say. The two Beartown books (Beartown and Us Against You) have more difficult subject matter. There were mixed reviews of his My Grandmother but the spin off book Britt-Marie seemed to be more popular. The two novellas – (And Every Day, and A Deal of a Lifetime) are quick reads, and his memoir is really fun and funny! My reviews are in the links.

  2. Like you, I am a huge fan of Fredrik Backman. I have read everything he has written so far and I have a digital ARC of his latest, “Anxious People “, waiting on my Kindle. ❤👍
