As you already know from my post last week (where you’ll find the concept and the topics), I invented a new meme to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah with all of my book blogging friends, of all races, creeds, religions, genders, and whatever. I’m calling it…
The Chocolate Lady’s
Eight Candle Book Tag Link Party!
This post is being published just as Jews in Israel light the first candle for the first day of Hanukkah. I have chosen one book for each night on bookish topics (the topics and rules can be found on this post, here). Also, you will find my Link Party at the bottom of each of these posts so anyone who wants to can join in the fun.
Remember, you don’t have to be Jewish to participate!
Here is my choice for:
🕯️First Candle
All Alone:
A book you love, but one that no one else seems to know anything about.
I’m going to promote a book written by friends of mine, because not only was it the first email-epistolary novel, but it was based on the real-life relationship between the co-authors, who are happily married today! That book is “Letters from the Fire” by Alma Hromic and R.A. Deckart. The bulk of this novel is comprised of the online correspondence between an American man and a Serbian woman living in Kosovo when NATO forces attacked that city in 1999. The two “meet” on an online forum, fighting about the war, and then continue their contact via personal emails.
Oops! I was planning to do 8 candles in one post…..are we supposed to do them one at a time for 8 days! 😱😱😱

Ok….got my act together and posted candle 1 today! Too late in your world but still the 22nd here! I’m going to try for every day! I’ve never posted 8 days in a row so this will be a minor miracle! 😱😂

You can do all eight together, or one each day – as you wish!

When I read “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” no one seemed to know about it. I know they’ve now made a movie, but at the time I couldn’t convince any of my friends to try it.
I loved it for the unique formats used in telling the story, for the accuracy of her depiction of school and parents’ behaviours, and for insight into Microsoft, and the Antarctic.
I will not go to the movie.

Yes, some books are “sleepers” – they only get known a while after they’re published! I didn’t read that, but I read her subsequent book. Not my thing, really! Thanks for participating!
